Take a Leap…into Loving Your Life

Have you been noticing a mild (or not so mild) dissatisfaction with your life lately? Perhaps life has been going along as usual, and then one day you wake up wondering how did life get so ordinary? Where is the pizzazz? Where is the joy and possibility? It often gets lost in what I call “the business of living.” We are busy with work, family, paying the bills, doing our volunteer work.

Then something happens. It can be a divorce or a death in the family, the loss of a job or some other life circumstance that leaves us asking, “is this all there is?” We think to ourselves “I thought I would be happier by now” or “I thought I would be further along.” And with those questions become an awareness of the difference in our old life and the life we have now.

Part of what happens is that really paying attention to what makes us ecstatically happy takes a back seat to all that “business of living”. Another thing that happens is that what used to make us happy doesn’t do so anymore. We are different people than we used to be and we need to have different tools to deal with life now.

When we were younger we often spent lots of time exploring new possibilities and wondering or learning new things. Then we settled down. It may be time for you to learn some new things again. In the Life on Purpose Process we work with people to clarify their life purpose from the perspective of “who” they are not “what” they do. Many times when we ask people what is a life purpose they say it’s their job or role in life. While your job or roles in life are important parts of the “business of life” they aren’t your life purpose. After all, shouldn’t your life purpose encompass all your life?

So what if you took a leap and learned something new that would revitalized your life, give you new freedom and joy — like who are you really? Would it be worth your time?
