Will this New Year be the year you finally, once and for all, become clear about your life purpose?  Will this be the year you resolve to clarify your life purpose and to then design your life to be a true and authentic reflection of that purpose?  If so, you’ve stumbled upon the one resolution that could really matter — that could make a profound and lasting difference in your life.  Here’s why this New Year Resolution is so important.

Knowing Your Life Purpose Gives You a New Place to Stand

Most resolutions don’t really work because they’re based on the notion that something is wrong and your job is to fix it, with the ‘it’ often being something about yourself: lose weight, get more exercise, eat healthier. In other words, most resolutions arise from the fear and lack-based thinking of the Inherited Purpose —  the lie you’ve been telling yourself about yourself and about life so long that you’ve come to believe it’s true, and it’s NOT.

But when you begin to really know your true, Divinely Inspired Life Purpose, you have a whole new place to stand — a whole new power that can shape your life.  This power is based in the true essence of who you are — Universal Love, your relationship with a Higher Power, your spiritual nature.

You see, one of the distinguishing features of the Inherited Purpose is that it’s the ‘default mechanism’ of human beings. What this means is that invariably as we go through life, sooner or later (and in today’s time it’s usually sooner than later), something will happen that results in our feeling threatened or unsafe, and presto, our Inherited Purpose starts to take over.  We react without conscious thought or intention from a place of fear, lack and/or struggle.

When you don’t know your true life purpose, pretty much all you have is either your Inherited Purpose shaping your life or a place of some ‘neutrality’ — just going through the motion waiting for the next “IP Attack.”  And in today’s off purpose world, you rarely have to wait long.  You hear a news report about the next economic crisis, or you get a call from one of your well meaning parents who still thinks you’re five-years old, or you open your mailbox to find a letter from the I.R.S. And off you go again, and again, and again.

But when you know who you truly are – when you know your life purpose with crystal clarity, you have a new place to move to, and access to a new life shaping power.

Purposefully Pivoting through Life

With clarity of purpose, you’re no longer stuck with the survival mechanism of your Inherited Purpose. This isn’t to say you won’t get hooked by it, but when you do you have new possibility how it can play out.  It might go something like this.

You’re tooling along in life when something happens that sparks your Inherited Purpose to take over. Let’s say you catch a 60-Minutes News Show about how the state governments are all going bankrupt.  It won’t take you long before you notice you’re off purpose.  How?

You’ll feel ‘ichy.’   In other words, you’ll notice you’re starting to feel frustrated, scared, anxious, angry, sad…fill in the blank for yourself.

Okay, up to this point, no real difference. You’ve gone from being unconscious that your life is being shaped by your Inherited Purpose, to becoming conscious that your life is being shaped by your Inherited Purpose. The net effect is still the same…except when you know your Divinely Inspired Life Purpose you can choose to pivot through the Inherited Purpose and to your true purpose.  You have a new place to stand — in your truth as a Divinely Inspired Being here to live a life shaped by Universal Love, an experience of abundance with a willingness to flow with life.  (Go Here to learn more on how to ‘purposefully pivot’ through life.)

It All Starts with a Resolution

Your journey along the Purposeful Path that eventually leads to your living a full blown life that is a true and authentic expressing of your Divinely Inspired Life Purpose begins when you resolve and commit to bringing this level of clarity to your life.

Perhaps it will lead you to using the Life On Purpose Process to clarifying your purpose, or perhaps you will be lead to some other way.  Just know that it is possible to know your purpose with such crystal clarity that over time your life will be a true reflection of your purpose, and that’s when the fun really begins.
