Welcome! If you’ve made it to this page it’s likely you are an Indie Author who specializes in writing science fiction and/or fantasy. That is who the first Authors Collaborative Circle will serve.
Or you might be an indie author who specializes in writing some other genre, and you’re curious about what theses Circles are all about. That’s fine. Just, before you go, please complete the short form you will find Here. As this project evolves, additional Authors Collaborative Circles will be made available, and you will be notified when one in your genre is next. And in the meantime, feel free to read over the information below to get a sense whether you think being a part of a future ACC might be a good fit.
Now, science fiction and fantasy authors, let’s dig into the specifics on how the SF&F Authors Collaborative Circle will support you in your writing careers.
In case you arrived on this page without watching the introductory video, here is a quick review. It’s fine to skip down to The Design of the Authors Collaborative Circles section if you just watched the video.
What is so, right now in the world of indie authors: Many indie authors around the world work alone, spending most of their time at their craft sitting in front of a computer. Many authors consider themselves introverts. Working alone so much often leads to authors thinking they also have to do everything themselves. This leads to a predictable future.
The predictable future: Many, maybe most of these authors will never have the level of success they desire and will eventually grow discouraged and quit. Others will decide they aren’t good enough to be able to make enough money to have writing be their full-time career, so they downgrade their dream, and writing becomes a hobby instead.
I want to offer another possibility, one that paints a different future. What if indie authors came together in small, intimate, live groups with a commitment to high integrity, open and honest communication, and a spirit of collaboration where each author is there to be sure everyone else in the group wins and are able to achieve the level of success beyond anything they could imagine doing alone?
The Design of the Authors Collaborative Circles
In designing the Authors Collaborative Circles, I started with what I thought most indie authors would most want to achieve and then worked back from there. So, the purpose of the SF&F Authors Collaborative Circles Project is to create a structure that will support SF&F authors to create breakthroughs in being:
- Prolific: An increase in one’s production as a writer measured by the increasing number of books and stories they write and publish.
- Proficient: Not only are ACC authors writing more, but the quality of the work produced is also enhanced as measured by the number of 4 and 5-star reviews they receive over time.
- Profitable: Not just writing more and better but ACC authors will support each other in selling more books.
- Satisfied & Fulfilled: They participating authors will experience a deeper level of satisfaction and fulfillment in their indie careers.
The Structure that Makes this Possible
For these results to be produced, an Authors Collaborative Circle needs a solid foundation and be sustainable over time. This foundation includes the following:
Integrity: Participants staying true to their word including placing their involvement with the ACC as a high priority.
Communication: “Anything and everything can be resolved through communication.” So, anything that may arise that jeopardizes the success or participation of a member or the group at large, all authors agree to resolve such matters through communication.
Collaboration: This is the spirit and essence of the ACC. Everyone wins is both the mantra and the stand that will create this spirit.
So When Does the ACC for SF&F Authors Start?
UPDATE as of June 5th: The date has been set for Tuesday, June 25 @ 3 pm eastern daylight time. We have two authors ready to go and have room for 6 more. When the Circle grows to eight, we’ll probably be ready to split off into two Circles.
