I’d like to start this game by sharing with you what prompted me to create it in the first place. In fact, it’s what has kept me writing the Zak Bates Eco-adventure book series for kids, young adults, and animal lovers of all ages for years. Please take a moment to watch this short video:

I believe that reading is an integral skill for success in life and the sooner we not only learn how to read but discover the joy of reading, the better off our lives become, and there’s plenty of evidence for this including this report from Bookbuzz:

For example: “Reading for pleasure has many non-literacy benefits and can increase empathy, improve relationships with others, reduce the symptoms of depression and improve wellbeing throughout life (The Reading Agency 2015).”

So how to play this awesome game. Well, rule #1 – Everyone needs to win, but don’t worry, that’s an easy rule to follow as you’ll see.

Here Are the Ways to Play & Win at the Game

  1. Read a book to a child. Every half hour earns you a point. Yea, you’re on the gameboard.
  2. Read the book, Dominion Over All, to a child. Every half hour earns you 3 points.
  3. Listen with a child to the audiobook, Dominion Over All. Every half hour also earns you 3 points.
  4. Read and listen to Dominion Over All with a child at the same time. (This is called immersion reading and is my favorite way of reading these days). Every half hour earns you 5 points.
  5. BONUS: Join in the fun of the Zak Bates Eco-adventure Readup Hours via Zoom. Each time you do you’ll earn 10 points. Join with a child in tow and earn 20 points.

Now, here’s the fantastic part of all this. We at Porpoise Publishing will provide you with an ebook copy and/or audiobook copy of Dominion Over All free of charge.
